Hi, I’m Dan!

As the Founder and Director of DK Counseling and Clinical Supervision, LLC, my focus is on guiding our practice, supporting our incredible team, and ensuring we deliver the highest standard of compassionate care to our community.

With over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, my role has recently transitioned. To fully dedicate myself to clinical leadership, supervision, and directing our practice, I am no longer accepting new counseling clients. Instead, I channel my passion into mentoring our therapists and ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors is matched with the perfect clinician for their unique journey. Much of my clinical foundation was built in local non-profits, including six years in an inpatient treatment facility helping folks navigate addiction, trauma, and complex relationship issues. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with everyone from first responders (with a deep respect for the City of Phoenix Fire Department!) to brain injury survivors, seniors, and international students. This diverse history has taught me one absolute truth: nothing is too big or too broken to overcome.

Throughout my years in clinical practice, one of my deepest professional passions has been working with couples, specifically utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I have seen firsthand how this powerful, evidence-based approach can transform disconnected relationships into secure, deeply bonded partnerships. While I am no longer sitting in the therapist's chair for couples sessions, I am incredibly passionate about bringing this expertise to our team. I actively mentor and train our clinicians in EFT, ensuring that our practice remains a trusted space for couples looking to heal and reconnect.

Beyond specialized couples therapy training, a massive joy of my career is training the next generation of healers. I continue to provide clinical supervision, exam preparation, and mentorship to graduate students and associate-licensed professionals pursuing their independent licensure.

When I’m not steering the ship at DK Counseling, you can usually find me exercising, taking my wife on surprise dates, traveling, walking my dog, or hanging out at church. I also love cooking, trying new restaurants, listening to a good book, and tending to my latest batch of home-brewed Kombucha.
